Xylem's Smith-Blair 971 Dismantling Joint (Non-Restrained) is a telescoping, adjustable joint designed for joining flanged fittings, pumps, meters, valves, and other miscellaneous flanged service equipment. Whether you're connecting butterfly or wafer valves, setting a pump station, or installing a meter in a tight space, the 971 makes it easy to place a flanged product in a new or existing setting with no special tools required, and flange gaskets install without prying apart mated flanges.

The 971 is built from a carefully specified combination of materials engineered for long-term performance. Followers for 3"–12" sizes are cast from Ductile Iron 65-45-12 per ASTM A536, while followers for 14" and larger sizes are fabricated from Carbon Steel C1020 per ASTM A576. Both are finished with Flexi-Coat® fusion-bonded epoxy and featuring integral bolt head pockets for one-wrench installation.

The Smith-Blair 971 is available in nominal pipe sizes from 3" and larger. Working pressure is rated at 175 PSI for 3"–12" nominal sizes and 150 PSI for 12" and larger.

The telescoping spool weldment design allows the spool to travel through the sleeve weldment, and total angular deflection of up to 1-1/2° per joint accommodates misaligned assemblies. Nominal sizes 18"–24" feature spool weldment sleeves expanded larger than through-bore at the flange end only; all other sizes are through-bore design.

Larger O.D. sleeves are provided with hanging rings for ease of installation.

Note: THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT RESTRAIN PIPE MOVEMENT. Proper anchoring is required to prevent pipe pullout. Failure to anchor or improper anchoring can result in dangerous pipe content escape, property damage, serious injury, or death. Read the product installation instructions prior to installing this product.
