Built to handle complete breaks, splits, and holes, and pulled service connections on carbon steel, stainless steel, ductile iron, and aluminum pipe, it delivers a fast, economical repair wherever corrosion risk is highest. With working pressures up to 125 PSI and nominal sizes from 3" through 16", this clamp is the dependable choice when the job demands all-stainless performance.
Key Product Features
Xylem's Smith-Blair 259 Full Circle® Double Band Repair Clamp is designed especially for hot soil and other aggressive environments, providing a fast, economical means of repairing damage due to complete breaks, splits, and holes on carbon steel, stainless steel, ductile iron, and aluminum pipe.
From corrosive soils to chemically demanding service conditions, this clamp is built to perform where standard materials fall short. The 259 band is Type 304 Stainless Steel per ASTM A240, 20 gauge, with hemmed ends for lug removal in tight applications.
Lugs are cast using Austenitic Stainless Steel GR. CF8 per ASTM A743 (304 equivalent), featuring long interlocking fingers for up to 0.80" of O.D. range (0.40" per side), interchangeable design for combining smaller clamps into larger diameters, and drop-in replaceable bolts so hardware never needs to be removed during installation. The gasket is Nitrile (Buna-N) per ASTM D2000, 0.218" thick, compounded to resist oil, natural gas, acids, alkalies, and most aliphatic hydrocarbon fluids.
The bridge plate is Type 304 Stainless Steel quarter-hard per ASTM A240, precision-set flush and bonded into the gasket to ensure uniform distribution of sealing pressure over the entire pipe circumference. Bolts are Type 304 Stainless Steel GR. 8 per ASTM A193 (5/8"-11UNC x 6.88" long) with epoxy-coated, rolled threads to prevent galling; nuts are Type 304 Stainless Steel GR. 8 per ASTM A194, fluoropolymer coated, heavy hex semi-finished; washers are Type 304 Stainless Steel per ASTM A240, 5/8" Type A plain.
The 259 is available in nominal pipe sizes 3" through 16", with standard band widths of 7.5", 15.0", and 22.5". O.D. ranges span 3.49"–16.72" across all sizes (see catalog for size-specific O.D. ranges). Working pressure is 125 PSI for 3"–12" nominal pipe sizes and 75 psi for 14"–16" nominal pipe sizes. Compatible pipe materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, ductile iron, and aluminum.
The Smith-Blair 259 Repair Clamp meets applicable D.O.T. Title 49 Section 192 regulations for gas service. Optional configurations include Type 316 Stainless Steel band or full hardware upgrade, offset gaskets for repairing longer cracks using multiple clamps, clamp widths up to 30", and factory-installed copper electrical conductivity buttons for cathodic protection in gas service applications
NOTE: This product is NOT recommended for PE pipe applications. This product does not restrain pipe from pulling out of a fitting.
