For Pennsylvania’s Western Butler County Authority (WBCA), peak flow events due to inflow and infiltration (I&I) have gone hand-in-hand with aging sewage system and treatment plant infrastructure.

Retrofitting or upgrading the fire protection system of an existing facility is not uncommon, necessitating a temporary fire protection solution that integrates with the existing pumping system to ensure continuity and compliance.

With a 27,000-square-foot green roof, owners’ suites decked out in reclaimed wood, and farm-to-table concession offerings, the 68,500-seat stadium includes a wide variety of “green” features. But none of these is more crucial to its operations than the use of recycled water for its flushing and irrigation systems, which account for 85 percent of the facility’s water usage.

The Hotel Statler, later known as the Wilshire Grand, would become an L.A. cultural icon, hosting celebrities, politicians and businesspeople the world over. Yet, over time, its heating and cooling systems became so inefficient that not even a $20 million makeover could save the aging hotel, setting in motion the five-year construction of a new hotel, offices and retail space.

Over time, the irrigation, pressure boosting and flow control systems at Quaker Hill Country Club became problematic and the grounds crew was only able to water one green or fairway at a time. Since swimming pools and shower facilities are important considerations when campers are selecting a destination, StoneyBrook Estates Campground wanted to ensure that its 30,000-gallon swimming pool and shower house were functioning effectively and efficiently.

To solve the groundwater problems, the EAA and United States Agency for International Development created the Pyramids Plateau Groundwater Lowering Project. Hydrotech evaluated the project and selected Xylem’s Goulds Water Technology products as the best solution for the groundwater problem.

Agriculture is by far the largest user of water – up to 70% of all fresh water consumption is for irrigation. Water has many other agricultural purposes such as washing stations, misters, or drinking water for livestock. In fact, horses consume up to 15 gallons of water per day.
