Water plant removes manganese and improves turbidity
This 10 million gallons per day drinking water plant gets its raw water source from a 151,000 acre-feet reservoir situated at an elevation of 5430 ft. The water intake is through a tunnel at a depth of 200 feet. The intake does not have provisions for the withdrawal of water from multiple levels in the reservoir.

Orange County water district removes PFAS with 30 systems
In February 2020, the California State Water Resources Control Board announced revised drinking water Response Levels for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) in drinking water. The new Response Levels (RLs) were set at 10 parts per trillion (ppt) for PFOA and 40 ppt for PFOS. The previous RL was 70 ppt for a combined total concentration for the two contaminants.

Clayton County, Georgia reduces apparent water loss & identifies one million in recoverable revenue
Clayton County Water Authority (CCWA) is a good example of a utility that doesn’t let a confined geographical footprint stop it from thinking outside the box. As one of Georgia’s smallest counties in terms of land size area (only 143 square miles), its location near the top of a regional watershed means it has little area to gather precipitation into streams and rivers.

EMALCSA: implementation of a digital twin to support decision-making in water supply network operations
The Empresa Municipal de Aguas de La Coruña (EMALCSA) manages the water cycle in the city of A Coruña and seven neighboring municipalities, serving a total population of 400,000. The utility collects, treats and distributes over 36 million cubic meters of drinking water to 138,000 customers each year, via a network of over 560 kilometers, 26 storage tanks and six pumping stations. -
EMASA: improving water efficiency through smart water balance analysis
EMASA (Empresa Municipal Aguas de Málaga S.A.) is the Malaga City Council’s public utility which has been in charge of managing the entire urban water cycle since 1987. The company serves more than 600,000 residents and supplies approximately 42 hm³ of drinking water. The system operates at a flow rate of up to 2 m³/s, ensuring urban water supply through an extensive pipeline network of around 2,000 km, divided into approximately 240 DMAs (District Metered Areas) and equipped with over 240,000 meters, 170,000 of which are smart devices. -
Ion exchange services remove groundwater contaminants
California Water Service Company had acquired another water company with approximately 100 connections, in Porterville, California, located in a remote agricultural area of the Central Valley. Their annual well testing had shown levels of nitrate at or near the Maximum Contamination Level (MCL) of 45 ppm and perchlorate was found in the groundwater at levels above the Public Health Goal (PHG) of 10 ppb. A treatment system was needed to remove both these contaminants to ensure quality potable water for the local community.

Irrigation in the building sector: why efficiency and automation now start from the heart of the system
For many years, irrigation in the building sector was considered a secondary matter. A necessary system, certainly, but rarely a strategic one. Today, that approach is no longer sustainable. Climate change, water scarcity, rising energy costs and increasing environmental responsibilities are radically transforming the way buildings are designed and managed. -
