About an hour south of Atlanta, the city of Barnesville, Georgia is a town of shady, tree-lined streets, a fondness for celebrating its history, and a sharp eye on the future. In 2013, as its 30-year-old wastewater treatment plant was reaching the end of its useful life, Barnesville found itself planning for a future of growth, progress, and a new, state-mandated <0.6 mg/L total phosphorus (TP) wastewater discharge limit.

Located in Evesham, New Jersey the Elmwood Wastewater Treatment Plant was prompted to upgrade its filtration process to address three aging traveling bridge sand filters that had reached the end of their useful life.

The City of Los Angeles has selected Xylem through its sales partner MiscoWATER, to manufacture and install a wastewater treatment system at the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant. The new treatment system will be installed as part of a pilot facility to evaluate three membrane bioreactor (MBR) systems.

The Sutter Primary Wastewater Treatment Facility, built in 1919, treats an average of 20 million gallons per day (MGD) for the City of Modesto. The treated effluent is discharged to a secondary site, where it is then treated for agricultural reuse.

The City of Fort Myers Wastewater Treatment Division includes two regional Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facilities with (6) 11 million-gallon-per-day (mgd) carbon steel Internalift Screw Pumps from Xylem. These pumps were close to reaching their typical life expectancy of 20 years and not operating efficiently.

Key West is one of America’s most scenic locales. Situated in the Florida Keys southwest of Miami, it is visited by millions of people each year and is home to more than 30,000 year-round residents. While there’s plenty of ocean, potable water is a precious commodity which is piped 125 miles from the mainland.

A forward-thinking not for profit private utility was in need to keep pace with population growth and seasonal flows in a space-constrained, environmentally sensitive resort environment. Walton County, a coastal resort area in northwestern Florida doubles its population during the spring break and summer seasons.

Located in Wernersville, Pennsylvania a borough of Berks County, the Robesonia – Wernersville Municipal Authority Wastewater Treatment Facility was prompted to upgrade its filtration process to address two aging traveling bridge sand filters and to meet new state water quality standards, including phosphorus effluent limits.

League City contracted with CDM Smith to manage the expansion project and design and construct a 4.0 MGD (design) / 12 MGD (peak)treatment facility with an energy, labor, and operational efficient process that would meet exceptionally stringent discharge limits. The facility also needed to ensure Type I or Type II non-potable reuse was available for future irrigation and/or amenity use.

Xylem has been selected by Carolina Water Service, Inc. of North Carolina, through its sales partner Premier Water, to design, manufacture and install a turnkey wastewater treatment system located in the gated golf course community of Brandywine Bay located in Morehead City, N.C.

In 2011, a pulp and paper manufacturer located in the Northeastern U.S. required a modification to their existing process that would improve production efficiencies while also meeting stricter environmental standards. Specifically, the company sought a solution to reduce valuable fiber loss, minimize chemical use and decrease produced solids in the effluent discharge.
