Vermont Town of 450 Removes PFOA From Drinking Water Well
The source of the contaminated water was located approximately 250 meters away from the municipal well, at a former industrial site. Upon learning of the elevated test results, the state issued a “do not drink” order to the 450 residents served by the municipal water supply until the water source could pass quality testing again.

Ion exchange services remove groundwater contaminants
California Water Service Company had acquired another water company with approximately 100 connections, in Porterville, California, located in a remote agricultural area of the Central Valley. Their annual well testing had shown levels of nitrate at or near the Maximum Contamination Level (MCL) of 45 ppm and perchlorate was found in the groundwater at levels above the Public Health Goal (PHG) of 10 ppb. A treatment system was needed to remove both these contaminants to ensure quality potable water for the local community.

Municipal drinking water treatment
Municipalities are often faced with VOC contamination of their source wells. Chemicals like Vinyl Chloride and Trichloroethylene can leach into aquifers used as source water for municipal wells. When this occurs, in many cases the most cost-effective solution is to treat the water to remove the VOCs using air stripping, which has been established as a Best Available Control Technology BACT for this application.

Orange County Water District Removes PFAS With 30 Systems
In February 2020, the California State Water Resources Control Board announced revised drinking water Response Levels for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) in drinking water. The new Response Levels (RLs) were set at 10 parts per trillion (ppt) for PFOA and 40 ppt for PFOS. The previous RL was 70 ppt for a combined total concentration for the two contaminants.

Public utility removes arsenic to control underground plume
A public water agency in California contacted Xylem to treat remove arsenic from a groundwater supply. They needed to achieve a 1 ppb effluent level from the treatment system, 90% lower than the current drinking water standard in California. In addition they needed to have the treatment operating within weeks.

SCV Water Agency selects Xylem vessels & media for PFAS removal

The Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency (SCV Water) services nearly 74,000 customers and obtains about 50% of its drinking water through local groundwater aquifers. Positioned behind the William S.
