Midas® OCM eliminates odors associated with sewer collection system

The 12 foot diameter intercept lines relieve hydraulic overloading, but also created a number of turbulent areas where nuisance odors adversely affected the local residential community. The city of Rosemount, Minnesota, was seeking treatment for phosphorus in the effluent discharge from the city's wastewater treatment plant. The customer's 0.75 MGD facility was permitted to discharge wastewater with a maximum average monthly total phosphorus level of 1.0 mg/l; however the effluent from the facility's newly installed disc filters was exceeding the NPDES permit limit.

This client operates a groundwater treatment facility at a Super Fund site where groundwater is pumped to a VOC stripper for the removal of TCE which is then re-injected into the aquifer. Bioxide® solution reduces odors, corrosion, and complaints
Xylem was contacted by a Mid-Atlantic Water Authority to propose an odor control solution at one of their pump stations. The Authority was treating the odors with a sodium hypochlorite (bleach) solution to varying degrees of success. Downstream hydrogen sulfide levels in the atmosphere were the primary contributors to odor complaints, reports of corrosion, and worker safety issues.
