The problem centered on excessive solids in the effluent. To ease the hydraulic load on the existing concrete secondary clarifier and reduce total suspended solids (TSS), Xylem installed a Taron activated sludge filter.

Town of Creston Pretreats Brewery Wastewater with ADI-BVF® Reactor
Creston’s wastewater treatment facility treats both domestic and industrial effluent. The Columbia Brewery, which feeds its wastewater to the town, underwent major expansions that significantly increased its wastewater flows. Creston was not equipped to treat the volume of wastewater generated by the brewery. Town officials were eager to solve the problem, especially since the brewery was Creston’s largest employer.

Situated in California’s Gold Country, the area has some unique challenges that include mine drainage and heavy flows during the winter storm season in the scenic Sierra Nevada foothills. On average, the City discharges 2.1 million gallons per day of treated wastewater effluent to Wolf Creek, a tributary of the Bear River.

A UK water supply company serves a population of approximately 675,000 consisting of homes and businesses in Surrey, Sussex and Kent and is a key part of London’s drinking water network. The largest works in Kent, which takes raw water from a reservoir that is recharged in winter by abstraction from the River Eden. The original works capacity was 35Ml/d and it is currently undergoing a phased uprate.
