Optimized valve maintenance – where to start
When valves are not accessible or operable, crews have to back up and close more valves to isolate the line. It takes longer to complete the repair, more customers are impacted and potential of damage to property as a result of a main break increases.

Pipeline management: old pipe is not always bad pipe
Despite their critical importance, for decades many municipal utilities have operated under a “bury and forget” mentality – with little emphasis on long-term management of their aging pipelines – at least until something goes wrong.

Thirty years of innovation in pipeline management
Advances in technology and data analytics now enable utilities to manage pipelines through continuous, incremental investment rather than planning for end-of-life replacement. This approach reduces the overall cost of ownership by preventing failures and avoiding the unnecessary and disruptive replacement of assets with remaining service life.

Alkagen® AQ Solution Provides Point Source Odor and Corrosion Control
Evoqua Water Technologies LLC was contacted by a South Florida Municipality to provide an odor control solution for a lift station within their collection system. In the past, the municipality had implemented biofiltration for control of atmospheric hydrogen sulfide. However, in recent years the biofilter was removed, leaving the lift station untreated and exposed to high sulfide concentrations.

HydroSurveyor Enables Rapid Reservoir Surveys
The ARC-Boat was developed by HR Wallingford and employs SonTek-proprietary Acoustic Doppler Profiler (ADP®) technology. The HydroSurveyor is a highly sophisticated system which includes 5-beam depth sounding, water velocity profiling and navigation capabilities. When mounted in the ARC boat, the HydroSurveyor scans the reservoir as it is guided across the water’s surface. Recorded data is then analyzed by HydroSurveyor software to produce accurate depth measurement in addition to bathymetry maps of the entire water body. With a small amount of post-processing in GIS or 3-D CAD, an accurate water volume can be determined.

Aquavar IPC with NEMA 3R enclosure helps make farming operations more efficient and profitable
Pumps are everywhere in agriculture, essential both for irrigation and for heating, ventilation and cooling (HVAC). But water needs change, and irrigation systems don’t always require a constant flow rate or constant pressure. Variable frequency drives (VFDs) are electric controllers that vary the speed of the pump, allowing the pump to respond smoothly and efficiently to fluctuations in demand.

Sunlight-blocking covers control algae, reduce operational costs
The Santa Clara Valley Water District (the District) manages an integrated water resources system that includes the supply of clean, safe water, flood protection, and stewardship of streams on behalf of Santa Clara County's 1.8 million residents. The district effectively manages 10 dams and surface water reservoirs, three water treatment plants, an advanced recycled water purification center, a state-of-the-art water quality laboratory, nearly 400 acres (162 hectares) of groundwater recharge ponds, and more than 275 miles (443 km) of streams.
