Using Sensus’ patented TouchCoupler inductive interface, the SmartPoint 525M connects to encoded meters through existing two- wire AMR setups. This eliminates the need for costly rewiring, offering a fast, reliable, and low-impact installation.

Flexible communication modes

The SmartPoint 525M supports three modes of operation:
• Walk-by/Drive-by: Transmits meter data and alerts when activated by a handheld or vehicle-based device.
• Cellular: Sends readings and diagnostics to the Regional Network Interface (RNI)™ via nearby cellular towers, up to four times daily.
• Fixed Base on Licensed Spectrum: Communicates with utility- installed Base Stations, offering the most frequent transmission schedule of the three modes, typically six times daily.

Once a base station is installed, utilities can easily migrate from cellular or walk-by/drive-by to fixed base on licensed spectrum.

Its two-way communication platform allows remote updates, lowering long-term operational costs. And once in fixed-base mode, the SmartPoint’s powerful 2-watt transmitter covers large areas, reducing infrastructure needs.
