Xylem's Smith-Blair 975 Dismantling Joint is a heavy duty joint restraint, designed for joining and restraining flanged fittings, pumps, meters, valves, and other miscellaneous flanged service equipment. Ideal for connecting butterfly and wafer valves or pumps requiring service for maintenance, the 975 telescopes to adjust to varying dimensions and allows some deflection for misaligned assemblies. When tie rods are used to secure the flanged fittings, joints are restrained, making other joint restraints unnecessary.

The 975 is built from a combination of materials engineered for long-term field performance. Followers for 3"–12" sizes are cast from Ductile Iron 65-45-12 per ASTM A536, while followers for 14" and larger sizes are fabricated from Carbon Steel C1020 per ASTM A576 or A36 or A283C, both finished with Flexi-Coat® fusion-bonded epoxy and featuring integral bolt head pockets for one-wrench installation. Sleeve weldment sleeves in 3"–5" sizes are Carbon Steel per ASTM A513 or A53; 6" and larger use Carbon Steel per ASTM A283C. Spool weldment sleeves follow the same material selection (3"–6" per ASTM A513 or A53; 8" and larger per ASTM A283C), all Flexi-Coat® finished, with the telescoping design allowing the spool weldment to travel through the sleeve weldment.

The Smith-Blair 975 is available in nominal pipe sizes from 3" and larger, accommodating any flanged pipe or fitting. Working pressure is rated at 175 PSI for 3"–12" nominal sizes and 150 PSI for 12" and larger; higher working pressure designs are available upon request. Restraint rod quantity is based on system design working pressure. Larger O.D. sleeves are provided with hanging rings for ease of installation.

A broad range of options is available to meet your project and site requirements, including 304SS or 316SS construction, Type 304 or Type 316 Stainless Steel hardware with fluoropolymer-coated nuts to prevent galling, alternative gasket materials (Viton, EPDM, etc.), anode connectors, pipe stops incorporated into the sleeve, higher working pressure designs, custom flange-to-flange lengths, any industry-standard flange, and reducing joints.
